Introduction
Our click-by-click procedure guides are split into 5 sections as follows:
- The Basics
- Common Task
- Brokerage Work Flow
- Underwriting Work Flow
- Advanced Document Management (ADMS)
NOTE - If you are the “project manager” for your business it's important to note specific procedures in this guide are a click-by-click walk-through of task your users need to perform to complete a task. There may be more walk-through procedures in this guide than you intend to train users on initially. You can cut & paste these specific procedures to your in-house custom training manual (or SOP) to meet your specific needs. Add to or take away from these procedures as you require.
The Basics - helps with common ExpertInsure (EI) task throughout the system, where features are located and how to move around in the system. Subsequent training guides will assume you have an understanding of the basics and will not include these steps unless it’s appropriate to further explain the process being discussed. This helps keep our guides simple, easy to maintain and easy to use.
It should be noted that procedures you perform outside of EI, but necessary to complete a work flow, it’s assumed you understand how to perform those tasks. Such task are not included in our click-by-click guides, but may be referenced. If you require training on those steps, please see your system administrator.
If you need a walk-through procedure not in any of our guides, please submit your request to our support department at support@bluegoose.us.
Common Task - helps with common task in a work flow. As an example, the clearance portion of a work flow is common to all work flows, so instead of repeating this portion of the work flow we skip it and assume you are familiar with those steps.
Brokerage Work Flow - helps with your broker business work flows or pass-through transactions. These are submission requests from your agents, but you in-turn request a quote from another MGA or broker. Once you receive a quote document from that MGA you modify it and forward to your agent.
Underwriting Work Flows - helps with your contract business. These are submission request you have authority to quote, bind and issue policy documents for the Insured. In some cases you may not actually issue the policy in ExpertInsure but pull the policy from your carrier's website. In that case, you still refer to this guide.
ADMS - helps with additional document management tools. Additional management features include ability to manage scanned in documents, emails and other document not coming from your Outlook Inbox.
There are other useful guides available here as well.
DON'T forget about your browser version and settings. Review the "Administrator Guide" Section for details.
Submission Management System (SMS)
ExpertInsure SMS is an easy to use & learn work flow policy administration system. It manages everything from the submission request to policy issuance. To assist users in managing this process, each user is assigned a role. Roles are assigned by your system administrator, with each role assigned to specific work queues. Of course each work queue serves a specific purpose or role. As an example, the “Broker” or “Underwriter” role has access to different work queues than the “Customer Service” role has. Each step in a work flow is managed by various work queues, helping users keep track of their workloads and daily tasks specific to either a single transaction or multiple transactions.
A well designed work flow guarantees work gets done in a logical & timely fashion and gives management the tools they need to ensure business is handled as expected.
There are many ways to rate a risk and develop a quote, so there is a quoting section in this manual that covers various methods. Choose the quoting process that best fits the rating method requirements as defined for that LOB, carrier/wholesaler, and the specific requirements.
NOTE - Because the system allows for various work flow scenarios there may be situations where the terminology on buttons and tabs may not fit the exact scenario you are currently working. For example: some organizations use the term agency, while others use the term broker. It is our goal to expand these terms to allow easy changes to these terms to meet the needs of our clients.
The use of the term Broker or Agency are interchangeable as some clients prefer to use different terms depending if they are a wholesale agency or MGA. For businesses that do both, agency may be the preferable term. The use of the term Underwriter or Broker are interchangeable as some clients prefer to use different terms depending if they are a wholesale agency or MGA. For businesses that do both, underwriter may be the preferable term.
As new users, it is helpful to utilize this manual to assist you in determining the appropriate work flow and buttons to select based on the specific quoting requirements for that particular situation. In no time these new terms and processes will become familiar and easy to understand. Please use this guide during this learning process.
